Job Posting: Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) Team Leader

Location: Downtown Toronto Department: Global Security Operations Centre
Reports To: GSOC Operations Manager
Job Type: Full-Time – 6 Week Continental Rotating Shifts (84 Hours Biweekly). All hours are in office, there are no remote hours for this position.

Pay Rate: $80,000-90,000

Overview

CIBC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Global Security Operations Centre (GSOC) Team Leader to join our team. The GSOC operates in a 24/7 environment, serving as the intake, triage, and response hub for physical security occurrences across the enterprise. Our mission is to support CIBC team members, facilities, and travelers by ensuring a safe and secure environment.

As a GSOC Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our people, assets, and reputation. You will be responsible for leading a high-performing team and driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and crisis management across a complex, global organization.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

- Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of security professionals across multiple shifts in a 24/7 operation.

- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and resilience of GSOC operations.

- Ensure adequate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain optimal coverage and response capabilities.

Continuous Improvement

- Identify and implement process improvements and best practices to strengthen operational efficiency and service delivery.

- Regularly review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) in response to evolving threats, technologies, and industry standards.

- Leverage data analytics and incident trends to inform decision-making and drive proactive risk mitigation.

Mentorship & Development

- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to team members to facilitate their professional growth and skill development.

- Design and deliver ongoing training programs and scenario-based exercises to ensure team readiness for a wide range of incidents.

- Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous development within the GSOC team.

Operational Excellence

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the GSOC, ensuring the timely and effective response to physical security incidents, alarms, and inquiries.

- Maintain situational awareness of global events and emerging threats that may impact CIBC operations, assets, or personnel.

- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Corporate Security, Facilities, IT, and Human Resources, to ensure an integrated approach to security.

Crisis Management & Incident Response

- Ensure incidents are triaged effectively, with timely and accurate alerts based on threat level, business impact, and proximity to CIBC locations or employees.

- Lead the coordination and communication of critical incidents, including escalation to senior leadership and external stakeholders as required.

- Conduct post-incident reviews, facilitate lessons learned sessions, and implement corrective actions to strengthen future response.

Reporting & Compliance

- Prepare and deliver regular reports on GSOC activities, incident metrics, and key performance indicators to senior management.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and CIBC policies related to security and privacy.

- Support audits and assessments of security operations and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.

Incident Documentation:

- Ensure all incidents, actions, and communications are accurately documented in accordance with internal protocols and regulatory requirements.

Vendor & Contractor Liaison:

- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party security vendors and contractors, ensuring service levels are met and contractual obligations are fulfilled.

Travel Security Support:

- Monitor and support the safety of CIBC travelers worldwide, providing timely information, risk assessments, and emergency assistance as needed.

Business Continuity:

- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning, ensuring GSOC readiness to operate during disruptions and emergencies.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in physical security operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in a GSOC or similar environment.

- Strong understanding of physical security protocols, incident response, crisis management, and risk assessment methodologies.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and dynamic environment.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.

- Proficient in the use of security systems, incident management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)) are a plus.

-Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
