Allied Universal is seeking Professional Security Guards - Retail in Canada.

We are currently seeking qualified security professionals to join our team in a retail environment. This
position involves security responses to a varied array of “calls for service” as well as provide
first responder services for security and life safety emergencies and incidents.

Retail Security Guards

Full time & Part time - Permanent

Location: Etobicoke - Dundas area 

Pay rate: $19.00 $20.00 per hour

Must have a valid Security Guard License

Must have a First Aid/ CPR certificate

2+ years of security experience in high profile environments 

Excellent customer service and deescalation skills

Responsibilities Include:
• Prepare complete, accurate and factual reports for all reportable incidents
• Respond to a varied array of “calls for service” as well as provide first responder services for all
security and life safety emergencies and incidents.
• Enforcement of applicable criminal code and legislative statutes, as directed.
• Conduct general as well as focused patrols (interior and exterior) looking for hazards, building
deficiencies, insecure premises, criminal or prohibited activity, suspicious persons, suspicious
activities, items, or vehicles.
• Provide access control and the monitoring of pedestrian and/or vehicle traffic
• Identify security and building deficiencies, safety hazards
• Alarm Response
• Provide access control where applicable, to include managing access for contractors and delivery
personnel.
• Dispatch security personnel to respond to non-emergency and emergency calls for service.
Contact emergency services (police, fire, ambulance)

Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:
• Relevant University and/or College Diploma
• Minimum two or more of work-related experience, preferably in the Security or protective services
industry
• Proficiency in MS
• Knowledge of CCTV systems, access control systems and monitoring of alarms
• Experience in critical environments where decision making, and actions can impact life-safety and
business continuity
• The ability to problem-solve by active listening

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
• Licensing requirements are subject to province and/or local laws and regulations and will be required prior to employment.
• As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background check
• Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
• Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
• Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
• Able to:
  • Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 20 kilograms
  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
  • Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
