Overview:
The Urban Patrol Officer is responsible for responding to and addressing concerns or violations related to parking enforcement and communication services at the Winnipeg Parking Authority. The role involves monitoring behaviors, enforcing parking regulations, and ensuring compliance with the policies and procedures set by the Authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Have a comprehensive understanding of all parking regulations, by-laws, and procedures, and enforce them by issuing Parking Offence Notices (PONs) in accordance with Winnipeg Parking Authority policies.
- Conduct daily patrols of assigned routes and surface lots, issuing citations and managing mobile enforcement zones.
- Stay informed about changes to restrictions, enforcement requests, events, and signage adjustments that impact parking rules.
- Document and report issues such as abandoned or stolen vehicles, and complete incident reports as necessary.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring accuracy in issuing citations and maintaining photographic documentation of violations.
- Review and ensure compliance with urban patrol, surface lot, and officer error reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Maintain accurate records of forms, permits, restrictions, and file accident reports as needed.
- Adhere to the organization’s professional appearance standards, ensure operational readiness of equipment, and manage wireless connectivity while responding to patrol requests in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
- Possession of a valid 5F Driver’s License.
- Minimum age of 25 for insurance purposes.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience).
- Physically capable of standing or walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 kg.
Required Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of industry standards, concepts, practices, and procedures in parking enforcement.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the public and colleagues.
- Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
